New mobile commerce site created for mobile device users was a big winner during the 2011 holiday season.
SANTA BARBARA, CA March 5, 2012 — Warp 9, Inc. (OTCBB: WNYN), the premier provider of e-commerce services for midsize online sellers, today announced that the mobile commerce site created by the company helped Sundance Catalog double its sales from mobile device users during the 2011 holiday season.
Seeing a steady increase in the number of shoppers coming from mobile devices, catalog retailer Sundance Catalog made the decision to launch a mobile commerce site in the fall of 2011. After carefully reviewing a number of options, Sundance Catalog selected Warp 9′s Mobile Direct mobile commerce solution to convert its existing ecommerce web site into a mobile-optimized site. Following the launch of its mobile commerce site, Sundance Catalog experienced a fourth-quarter 2011 increase of 2.1 times the number of orders placed through mobile devices, resulting in an increase of 2.4 times mobile revenues. Its new mobile commerce site also helped drive up the number of mobile visitors by 1.8 times compared with the fourth quarter of 2010.
“Before they had a mobile commerce site, Sundance Catalog was seeing some sales from mobile users,” said Andrew Van Noy, Executive Vice President of Warp 9, Inc. “People are already on their phones and they need an easy solution. A mobile optimized site is very similar to a desktop site, but allows mobile users to enjoy a desktop site experience on their mobile devices. Based on their increased sales results, it is clear that this mobile strategy was a big winner for Sundance Catalog.” Other mobile holiday results reported by Sundance Catalog compared with the fourth quarter of 2010 include 2.1 times more page views and a conversion rate increase from 3.77% to 4.09%. Sundance Catalog promoted its mobile mobile site to its loyal customers via email and in its print catalog.
Warp 9′s Mobile Direct is powered by the industry’s leading proxy server technology, which seamlessly converts existing e-commerce websites on the fly for user-friendly interaction on smart mobile phones such as iPhone and Google Android. There is no need to perform complex internal integration with existing e-commerce databases. The proxy technology elegantly acts as a gateway between e-commerce websites and mobile devices without any additional server side programming or business logic. All orders placed on mobile devices are processed securely and normally through the retailer’s existing e-commerce website. Online customers can track their orders and perform any function available on the regular e-commerce website. Best of all, the retailer need not change the way it currently does business. Mobile Direct allows Warp 9 customers to transparently extend their existing e-commerce website, with minimal management.
